Hi,
I hope you remember me. I was a trick rider and roper and had a jumping
horse act. My parents were Monte & Opal Reger. They lived in Woodward,
Ok. I was married to Tom Hadley, announcer. I am married to a former business
man and we are raising llamas. Do you still come to the Cowboy Hall of
Fame in Oklahoma? I go every year. I just happened on to your web site
and it is great. |

Hello
to all the Roberts family - I have had the pleasure of knowing many of
them for several years. We used to own the motel across from the rodeo
grounds at Strong City & we gave the Roberts family first choice of
rooms, then we blocked off the parking lot & the Roberts family would
pick & sing for us. We have had many good times together - now we
all meet at Jo's house at Strong City & watch the parade together!!!!
My Dad, Walt Phillips, was best friends with E.C. for many years. |

I
spent about 20 years of my life in Marion Co., KS near Durham. The Roberts
family were people I admired. I also graduated from ESU in 1966 and knew
a lot of people from Chase Co. I never missed the rodeo in Strong City
from 1948-66 when I went in the Air Force. William Least Heat Moon should
have devoted a lot more of his book to the Roberts family in his book
Prairie Earth in my opinion. This is a very fine website. Thank
you. |

Shannan,
way to go! It looks great! What a way to give back to Granddad for all
the interesting things he has given us. I can remember trying to sneak
off to the dance at Strong City instead of listening to the stories, and
now it seems that I forget about the dance all together. We love you Granddad
and Grandma Pat! Mandy, Molly and Macy |

When
the NFR went to Las Vegas, my husband, a member of the "Wild Bunch,"
got our tickets from them and when we went to the Rodeo, we had seats
in the "Nose Bleed Section" upper level. I was very upset
but when Casey Tibbs and his lady friend came and had seats next to
us, I deciided that if the seats were good enough for Casey, then they
were good enough for me.
We had so much fun that night and laughed and I was in such awe I could
hardly watch the Rodeo except for the Bronc Riding, as my cousin from
South Dakota was a Bronc Rider. Casey found out who I was kin to and
told me that my Aunt Frankie Reeves had fed him many a meal. The next
night, we were in the Gold Card room for "Classic" cowboys
and Casey had really good seat tickets for us next to him. I have old
programs with Casey on the roster where my husband was a contestant
too. I am very proud of being a rodeo wife. |

I
am a Roberts, by birth. I typed the words "Roberts Family" into www.imagesgoogle.com
for fun. I'm researching my family roots. This site came up and I was
fascinated for these reasons: 1. I have a brother named Gerald Roberts.
2. I have a brother named Ken Roberts. 3. I have a brother named Clifford
Roberts. 4. My mothers name is Clara Roberts. Your website is neat and
the above coincidences were great! |

This
is a fantastic web site and must have taken a lot of work to put together.
Norma is awed by all the information and is grateful to learn more about
some of the family history. Norma is cousin to Gerald, Ken and so on.
The web site was given to us by Norma's brother Earl Roberts who lives
in Virginia. Are there any books available with the information you have
in the web site? Walt and Norma Dinwiddie |

I
grew up in Strong City. My dad Russell "DEE" Fink was a pick-up man for
the Roberts. Dad and E.C. were together everyday playing dominoes, going
to sales or just visiting. E.C. was everyones role model in Chase County.
I thought the pick-up man in one of the pictures is my dad. My parents
have alot of pictures of the Roberts family and the rodeo |

Dear

a wonderful surprise. I was looking up something for a friend and just
happened to run onto the Wild Bill Hickok site and then onto yours. This
is really interesting and a great tribute to your contributions to the
world of rodeo and to the community of Abilene. Best wishes always, Ada

I found your web page very interesting and very informative, it was a delight to read about a man and his past history, because he saved my life when I was about eight years old. Gerald was married to my Aunt Enis from Chicago. Uncle Gerald and his family came back to Chicago because he was performing in the rodeo. Gerald, Aunt Laurie and I where on the Bull's Pen and the darn bull was fussen and kicking up a storm, as a result of all his wild kicking, I started falling into the bull's pen. I thought I was a goner of course. To my surprise, My Uncle Gerald grabbed me by the back of my shirt and pants and pulled me back up, before the bull kicked me to my death. Uncle Gerald was thanked by my family members for saving my life, but he didn't think that he did anything special. But I'll always remember, My Uncle Gerald Roberts for saving my life. Thank You Uncle Gerald.Jeri Tornincasa | |

Wayne
Dunafon, my husband - deceased 2001 - was a Professional Rodeo Cowboy
starting with membership in the Cowboys Turtle Association. He competed
in Roberts Rodeos throughout Kansas since early 1940's, and has known
the Roberts family as a friend during his rodeo days. They all competed
together in the month long Madison Square Garden Rodeo at New York from
the Middle 40's until Wayne made his last trip there in 1958. Wayne modeled
for Lee Riders while Gerald was a Wrangler Cowboy. Both had ridden the
famous saddle bronc "School- boy Rowe". Wayne considered it fortunate
to have drawn this legendary horse 3 times & won 1st money on him for
each ride in the late 1940's. Thank you for creating this website for
all to enjoy. Lori Dunafon |

Started
out on the Flinthills Rodeo site, to get tickets. Followed link to Gerald's
website. Interesting to me, since I knew the family and lots of others
from Strong City, Cottonwood Falls area. Like reading a book about people
you personally know. Grew up a "feedlot cowboy" in Cedar Point for Crofoot
& Robinson. Today for me was a memory lane, because I was working on a
project and listening to "George Strait" special on radio. He admitted
that as we did, they used to work cattle in pens, on the ground. I exited
the cattle business in 1973 ..... back in High Scool 64-67 people thought
we were "nuts" carrying ropes on our saddles and roping 800 lb steers.
A far cry from what it became for all the " Drug-Store " cowboys that
came along later. Enjoyed the trip. Thanks Mike Robinson |
